In this session, we completed the reading practice from the deck we have been working with over the past two weeks. The focus of this portion was on reading four-letter words containing basic harakah and jazm. This practice helped reinforce recognition of these marks while reading slightly longer words with greater confidence and fluency.
After finishing the remaining material from the deck, we moved on to a new concept: long vowels. Participants learned how to recognize long vowels in words and how they affect the pronunciation while reading.
To begin applying this new concept, we practised reading two-letter words containing long vowels. Starting with shorter words allowed everyone to focus on identifying the long vowel and producing the correct extended sound before moving on to more complex examples in future sessions.
The deck used in this session is as follows:
You are warmly invited to join our next session on Learning to Read the Quran. These sessions are for women only and focus on steady learning through brief introductions followed by practical reading exercises.
In the next session, we will continue with more reading practice using long vowels, and we will also learn about semi-vowels.
We look forward to continuing the learning together.
